BackLink or link back is a link to our website / blog from other website / blog. Usually bloggers use this backlink to increase their blog's PR (pagerank). Page Rank is a system use by Google to determine how "popular" a page is. This determine in which page your site will show when a coressponding keyword is entered in Google search or other search engines. A website / blog that have high pagerank will be shown in front page when the coresponding keywords is entered.
From here, we can see that many bloggers will do backlink search. Backlink will be more effective if we have it from a high pageranked blog. A backlink from a blog with page rank equal to 8 will be hundreds time more valuable than a backlink from pageranked 1 blog. So the higher the number is, the better pageranked a blog is.
